The scandal of trafficking young boys from Africa to Europe with the lure of fame and fortune as a football star is to be targeted in a new clampdown, The Independent has learnt. The move will throw a spotlight on the recruitment practices of clubs in England and on the continent.
Ambitious Portsmouth close in on £10m Crouch
Portsmouth yesterday bid £10m for the England striker Peter Crouch, their second offer for the player, and this time it appears that Liverpool are prepared to accept. The two sides were last night discussing the details of the deal with a view to an announcement next week.
